About the Role

The Driver will provide timely and safe transportation for World Vision staff, visitors and programme-related activities while maintaining assigned vehicles in good operating condition. The role also supports field facilitation, community activities, administrative services and vehicle reporting.

The successful applicant is expected to work in accordance with World Vision policies, professional ethics and cultural sensitivities. The organization also expects regular participation in team and office devotions, chapel and prayer gatherings in line with applicable policies.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Facilitation

  • Provide timely transportation for staff travelling to and from work and other official duties.
  • Ensure the safety of staff and the vehicle throughout journeys.
  • Coordinate the mobilization of additional vehicles and drivers for major donor visits, campaigns, evaluations and baseline activities.
  • Facilitate transportation for staff, visitors and donors travelling to and from the field.
  • Support effective facilitation of staff and programme activities.

Vehicle Care and Maintenance

  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness at all times.
  • Keep the vehicle movement logbook accurate and up to date.
  • Check the mechanical and operational condition of the vehicle.
  • Ensure the vehicle is serviced at the required intervals.
  • Check that all vehicle tools are available and intact.
  • Undertake minor repairs and recommend major repairs when necessary.
  • Park the vehicle in recommended World Vision Kenya parking areas and obtain permission for vehicle use in accordance with policy.
  • Comply with traffic laws and maintain maximum care of the vehicle.
  • Report vehicle malfunctions to the fleet office and initiate procurement processes for required repairs and maintenance.
  • Submit spare vehicle keys to Fleet Management for safe custody and surrender vehicle keys to the relevant supervisor at the end of each trip.

Reporting and Administration

  • Prepare monthly and other required vehicle reports and file approved copies.
  • Forward invoices and fuel returns to Fleet Management for payment processing.
  • Submit detailed accident reports to support claims processing when accidents occur.
  • Facilitate the delivery of parcels and mail.
  • Work with the Administration department and service providers to support quality services.
  • Coordinate field facilitation services with relevant staff.
  • Support community mobilization activities.
  • Act as a bank agent for bank transactions as required.

Required Qualifications

  • KCSE Certificate.
  • At least 3 years of driving experience with Class C1, C, CE, D3 or CD under the new driving classification.
  • Basic knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance.
  • Computer literacy certificate.
  • Reference letter from the applicant’s local Chief.
  • Must be a local resident of Machakos County.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First Aid and other safety certification is an added advantage.
  • Basic defensive driving certification is an added advantage.
  • Previous experience working in an NGO environment is an added advantage.
